In 1604, the town of Bridgewater was the first area identified and mapped by Samuel de Champlain, great explorer. Originally named Cap de la Hève, Bridgewater held the title of first capital of New France (1632-1636)
This area has numerous coastal villages that will delight visitors including Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
