This hike lets you appreciate the Acadians adaptation to the region’s geography by exploring a ravine at the base of the South Mountain. In fact, it is at the summit of this mountain that some Acadians hid during the Deportation.
Stop after the bridge to imagine the Acadian tide mill. Based on oral tradition, it was located between the brook and the road you are walking.
“During the Deportation era, the region accounted for at least 11 water or windmills that served to grind grain or sawing wood.3”
